We attend marine surveys at 25 Indonesian ports and anchorages, from Belawan in the west to Sorong in the east. Seven regional desks carry most of the work — Jakarta, Surabaya, Balikpapan and Samarinda, Batam and Bintan, Makassar, Bali and Labuan Bajo — and the remainder are covered by mobilisation from the nearest of those.
Indonesia is 5,000 km wide and the survey market is not evenly spread across it. Container and cargo claim work concentrates in Jakarta and Surabaya; coal draft survey work in Kalimantan; shipyard and used-boat inspection in Batam; traditional wooden hulls in South Sulawesi; and the leisure and liveaboard fleet in Bali, Labuan Bajo and Raja Ampat. Knowing which desk is nearest to your vessel is the difference between a same-day attendance and a two-day mobilisation.
Port index
Ports with a linked regional page have a resident desk. The rest are attended by mobilisation, normally within 24 to 72 hours depending on flights and boat transfer.

How mobilisation and travel are charged
Attendance at a port with a resident desk carries no mobilisation charge. Elsewhere, travel is charged at cost — flights, boat transfer, accommodation and waiting time — and quoted before you commit. Three practical points reduce it:
Reducing mobilisation cost
- Give a date range rather than a single date. A surveyor already travelling to that region can pick up your attendance on the same trip.
- Group vessels. Two candidates surveyed in one mobilisation cost far less than two separate trips.
- Confirm access before we travel. A wasted journey because the vessel was not opened up, or the yard would not admit the surveyor, is chargeable and avoidable.

Frequently asked questions
Which Indonesian ports do you cover?
Twenty-five ports and anchorages, with resident desks at Jakarta, Surabaya, Balikpapan and Samarinda, Batam and Bintan, Makassar, and Bali and Labuan Bajo. Other ports are attended by mobilisation from the nearest desk.
How quickly can a surveyor attend?
Same day or next day at a port with a resident desk. Elsewhere, 24 to 72 hours depending on flights and boat transfer. For casualty attendance tell us the position and we will give a realistic ETA.
Do you attend at anchorage and offshore?
Yes. Anchorage attendance by boat transfer, including overnight attendance aboard during loading, is routine — particularly for coal draft surveys in Kalimantan.
Is there an extra charge for remote ports?
Travel is charged at cost and quoted before you commit. There is no mobilisation charge at ports with a resident desk.
Can you survey in Raja Ampat and Sorong?
Yes, by mobilisation. For yard-based repair work in that region see our note on the eastern Indonesia routing.
Do you cover inland and river ports?
Yes — Samarinda and the Mahakam, the Musi at Palembang and the Barito at Banjarmasin are regular attendance areas, with the usual river-draught and tidal-window constraints.
