Marine Survey Indonesia is the independent marine survey and inspection desk of the Komodo Luxury maritime group (Juara Holding Group, since 2015). We attend vessel and cargo surveys across 25 Indonesian ports for buyers, owners, underwriters, banks, charterers and cargo interests.
The desk exists because of a gap the group kept running into from the other side of the table. Within the maritime group we build, repair, manage and broker vessels. In every one of those transactions, somebody needs an independent technical opinion — and an opinion produced by the party selling, repairing or managing the vessel is worth nothing. So the survey work was separated out, given its own desk and its own reporting line, and pointed at the whole Indonesian market rather than only at group vessels.
What we do
- Leisure and yacht lane. Pre-purchase, condition and valuation, insurance and damage surveys on motor yachts, sailing yachts, catamarans, sportfishing boats, phinisi and liveaboards.
- Commercial and cargo lane. Draft, bunker, cargo condition and outturn, on-hire and off-hire, hull and machinery with thickness measurement, barge suitability and towage approval, and statutory, class and tonnage preparation.
- Casualty attendance. Collision, grounding, fire, machinery damage, cargo claims and pollution, for underwriters, owners and P&I club correspondents.
Where we work
Resident desks at Jakarta and Tanjung Priok, Surabaya and Tanjung Perak, Balikpapan and Samarinda, Batam and Bintan, Makassar and South Sulawesi, and Bali and Labuan Bajo. How we are structured
Marine Survey Indonesia is a specialist maritime brand under Juara Holding Group. It is a brand and an operating desk rather than a separate legal entity, and we say so plainly rather than implying a corporate structure that does not exist. Contracting runs through the group’s Indonesian companies:
- Survey and inspection engagements are contracted through PT Komodo Galangan Nusantara (technical arm), which also issues construction, repair, refit and vessel-sale contracts.
- Boat-management contracts are issued by PT Komodo Vessel Management.
- Brokerage, central agency, charter marketing and commercial representation contracts are issued by PT Komodo Bahari Nusantara.
Survey findings are issued independently and are not conditioned on any sale, brokerage, or repair contract. Where a group company has a commercial interest in a vessel we are asked to survey, we disclose it in writing before accepting the instruction, and we decline where the conflict cannot be managed.
What we do not claim
Claims we deliberately do not make
- We do not claim classification society status. We are not a class society and we do not issue class or statutory certificates.
- We do not claim accreditations, licences or memberships the desk does not hold. What is held is listed on the accreditations and standards page.
- We do not publish client testimonials, star ratings or award badges. There are none on this site and there will not be.
- We do not publish invented surveyor biographies. Reports are attributed to the desk and, where a client asks, the attending surveyor’s relevant experience is provided directly to that client.
Group context
Juara Holding Group has operated in Indonesian maritime and travel since 2015. The maritime side of the group covers vessel construction and repair, vessel management, brokerage and charter, and this survey desk. Being part of a working maritime group is the reason our surveyors have seen the failure modes they write about — and the reason the independence separation above exists in writing.
